A walk across the Pitlochry Dam, past the salmon ladder, down the far side of the River Tummell and the Festival Theatre, across the river at the distillery and back through the town to the dam visitor's centre. Look closely and you can see the salmon negotiating the ladder.

How old is the dam?

It was completed in 1951. The best part is the salmon ladder, it's fascinating to watch them swimming upstream. The old viewing window that was built into one of the lower chambers has been replaced with a live video feed in the visitor's centre on the opposite side of the river.
